Log a submission in under 30 seconds

2 min read · Updated Jul 2026 · Applies to all plans

Most submissions arrive by email, but plenty come from a phone pitch or an in-person handoff that never touched your inbox. For those, log a submission by hand: it takes well under 30 seconds.

Press n, fill the title, done

From anywhere in the submission log, press n (or click New submission) to open the form. Enter what you have:

  • Title: the only required field.
  • Writer, format, source, and status: optional, and easy to add later.
n → New submission
  Title Glasshouse ← required
  Writer Marcus Bell (optional)
  Format Pilot (optional)
  Source Rachel Ostrow, WME (optional)
  Status Logged (defaults sensibly)

Writers you name are created automatically if they don't exist yet, so you don't have to set them up first.

Tip

Everything except the title can wait. Log the title now to capture the submission, then fill in the rest from the detail view when you have a minute.

Keyboard-first

The log is built for speed. n opens a new submission, a assigns a reader, and w flags a row to the weekend read. Press ⌘K to search from anywhere, and Esc to close the open dialog.

Attach the script later

A hand-logged submission may not have a file yet. The Script tab prompts you to attach one when you're ready; once attached, the PDF is watermarked on every delivery like any other script.

Common questions

Do I have to pick a writer? No, but adding one links the submission into that writer's history, which powers "have we seen this writer before?" lookups.

What counts against my plan's limit? Active (non-archived) submissions. Archiving old ones frees room on the Free tier.
